I have painted Eilean Donan a few times from different viewpoints & in different weather. I am sure that many more unique and very different paintings could be done of this view that is so typical of the highlands. This view is from just above where the road from Skye and the castles bridge meet
The legendary castle on the west coast of Scotland. Eilean Donan was the site for an ancient castle built about the year 700, which was destroyed in the Jacobite rebellion about 1719. The castle stood in ruins until the beginning of the 20th century when it was rebuilt over about 20 years, finishing in 1932. So actually it looks a lot older than it is. It has appeared in many films including Highlander & the James Bond movie "The world is not enough"
