Commission a Painting
- Landscapes, Seascapes & Still Life
(excluding Portraits)


​The Process 
We shall discuss ideas for the painting and your preferences for style, colours, painting size, intended display location, etc. We will agree a design, schedule and price.
As per standard professional practice a non-refundable payment of one third (33 1/3%) of the total fee plus any agreed upon up front expenses is required prior to the commencement of the commission. The balance is due upon client acceptance of the finished painting (or if to be shipped - a final photo of it.)

Materials
Only the best archival quality materials are used. The workmanship of your painting is guaranteed. I can work on board, dibond (aluminium composite board) or fine canvas/ linen .

Time
Once started, painting time can take anywhere between 8 to 16 weeks from start time depending on complexity. Generally I do have commission work underway & pending. Just ask & I can give you an estimate of start time. Oils need to dry before shipping.
As the painting progresses, photographs can be emailed to ensure that the painting is progressing in line with your requirements. A final photo will be emailed to you to ensure your satisfaction prior to shipping of the painting.

Commission Fees
The price of a commissioned painting depends on a few things, such as:-
  • Complexity of design.
  • Need for precise rendition of subject (i.e. ensuring precise rendition of a building, ship, or other architectural elements).
  • Size of the painting.
  • Level of consultation required during design & painting of the picture.
  • Gathering research, source materials, taking photographs, necessary travel.
  • Framing.
  • Delivery.

​An indicative price range is shown below. (prices exclude frames & delivery). The sizes shown are common ones. However, I can do any size and cut the canvas to fit. The only limitation is the shipping arrangements.

​The price range covers various levels of complexity and size, but excludes the need for any extensive research. The higher end relates to paintings which will require precise & time consuming rendition such as incorporating recognizable structures and/or landmarks. Final cost is set after consultation with the client about the specifics of the painting
Not included in the fees are any necessary travel, research time, framing & shipping fees.
