Interpretations - A New Joint Exhibition with Barbara Gray 4-10 November 2019
Fern Street Gallery, Gerringong.
This exhibition of paintings is inspired by the
diversity of mood and light, as we explore the themes of light in the landscape, city & urban areas and the coast. They are informed primarily by plein air studies, urban sketching and travel.
As we journey together we find great diversity in the places we travel to, which reflects in the differing interpretations of our work.
Plein air painting & sketching outdoors plays a big part in our practice. We visit new places to draw, sketch and paint on the spot. Nothing beats painting outdoors where you can feel the sun and wind, and “hear” the landscape, it always turns out to be a very satisfying day at the “office.”
Having just moved to the south coast we are finding the light and coastal landscape a wonderful inspiration, & some very recent paintings showing this will be included in this exhibition. The exhibition will also feature urban, cityscapes & nocturnal scenes, providing a view of our wide-ranging subject matter. We mostly work in oils, however, do use watercolours in our plein air work & urban sketching.
